Title

Tributes to T-Rex and Billy Joel coming soon to Tropic At Ruislip

Dear Live Music Fan

PLEASE NOTE THIS E-MAIL WAS WRITTEN ON 10th JULY

As this e-mail was written well in advance of the date of being sent it will contain no jokes, as sadly anything could have happened between my writing it and it being sent - we could have won the World Cup even!!

COMING UP

FRIDAY 20th JULY

On 20th July we have an absolute classic and a "must see" night for anyone who is a fan of T-Rex, Tyrannosaurus Rex or Glam Rock. That said dare I say this could e an interesting night for anyone who actually does not know T-Rex very well as this show, with two bands, and starting early at 9 pm will take you on the full history of the band…or bands.

TYRANNOSAURUS JED

Tyrannosaurus Jed performs songs from Marc Bolan's acoustic albums and many T.Rex songs.

'As a mimic of Bolan he's unparalled.' Paul Du Noyer, NME.

A typical set list

Acoustic

Wind Quartets, Seal of Seasons, One Inch Rock, Conesula, Salamanda Palaganda, The Wizard

Electric

The Children of Rarn Suite , Cat Black the Wizards Hat, King of the Rumbling Spires, King of the Mountain Cometh, Elemental Child.

TOO REX

TooREX (featuring the incredible Bobby T as Marc Bolan) bring back the Glam Rock era of the early seventies with a spell binding show that covers the whole of Marc Bolan’s career from the early hippy period of Tyrannosaurus Rex to the megastar, chart topping days of T-Rex. Complete with full costume changes, glitter and more than a dash of star quality, TooREX come incredibly close to the real thing.

This full nostalgic concert includes some early singles such as “Deborah”, “One Inch Rock” and “Ride A White Swan” to the big hits “Get It On”,

“Telegram Sam”, “Hot Love”, “Metal Guru”, “Jeepster” and “Children of the Revolution”, to some of the fondly remembered album material.

The show also features a selection of T-Rex tracks such as (“I Love to Boogie”, Cosmic Dancer” etc) that were featured in the Award winning box-office smash movie Billy Elliot!!

Marc Bolan look-alike vocalist Bobby T spent years in awe of his late hero, before he finally took to the stage to pay his own special tribute.

“It was a case of going from being a fan to fronting a band that recreates T-Rex as accurately as possible. I always wanted to do it, but it took some talented musical connections and friends to push me into it, and we’ve never looked back since.” he added proudly.

With sell-out shows, and a Glam revival in full blossom, there’s never been a better time to grab your spaceball-shoes and feather boas and relive the legend of Marc Bolan and T-Rex.

Just do not miss this event which I suspect will be a "one-off special", book now at http://www.tropicatruislip.co.uk/ebook/index.htm where it is only £12 pre-booked and that has to be seen as a bargain whichever way you look at it. And remember EARLY START AT 9pm SHARP.

LOOKING FURTHER AHEAD

FRIDAY 27th JULY

PIANO MAN - THE MUSIC OF BILLY JOEL

It is always nice to welcome a new band to Tropic at Ruislip and I for one am really looking forward to seeing this show which, notwithstanding the title, features a full live band.

Selling over 150 millions records, scoring 33 top 40 US hits, and being honoured with 6 Grammy awards, Billy Joel is the sixth best selling music artist of all time, and a singer/songwriter that has forged his position as number 1 commentator on American life. From 'Piano Man' to 'River of Dreams', his tightly structured songs have been embedded in the psyche of music lovers, not only in Joel's USA, but worldwide.

Since forming in 2015, Jules Benjamin & the Big Shots have wowed audiences with their energetic and faithful live recreation of this most enviable of songbooks, recreating the live excitement whilst always showing deep respect for the intricacies and detail of the original recordings.

With soaring, articulate vocals, smouldering saxophone, and a pile-driving rhythm section, all of the elements that characterise Joel's recorded and live repertoire are present.

Tickets are only £12, one not to miss, book now at http://www.tropicatruislip.co.uk/ebook/index.htm
